Myne makes progress with her book-making endeavors, all so that she can read them herself. Her sickness turns out to be the Devouring after all, and she learns that curing herself will cost a lot of money. She ultimately decides to keep living as she has been thus far, selling her knowledge from Earth to make money. But despite her enthusiasm, the Devouring eats away at her more by the day, until she ends up collapsing in the middle of a business meeting.
